Cohort 7 would like to present to you the Media Ethics AI Twitter bot. The Media Ethics AI Twitter bot extracts news articles from different news websites and tweets sentences from those articles so the public has more insight about different time periods... or does it really? In reality, this bot scrapes sentences from articles by The Onion and claims different news companies (like Fox or New York Times) posted them on a specific date. We decided to work on this bot in order to show the public how easy it is to generate misinformation on social networking platforms. Before, a person would stumble upon this account and think these quotes are by famous news companies when they're not. The bot uses Python as the programming language, and Twitter API to interact with our Twitter account. Click on the button below to view it in action!
